Family Life Ministry

The Family Life Ministry is designed to help bring the parish together by holding events that promote fellowship as well as spirituality. Some of the events the Family Life Ministry has put together are the monthly Meet and Greets, the Annual Parish picnic, and Supper and Substance.  The group meets monthly and new members are welcome.

Knights of Columbus

Who are the Knights?

The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic family fraternal service organization with 1.6 million members. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, their communities, families and young people.

Council Information

The Edward Douglass White Council was Established in 1949, in New Orleans, La. And then Moved to Metairie, La. To  St. Clement of Rome in 1970, The council does not have a council home of their own but meets in the church facility adjacent to St. Clement of Rome School and Church. The normal meeting facility is Vosbein Hall located just to the left of the school building. The council dues are $50.00 per year.

Council Meetings

Regular business meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month with a sit down meal beginning around 7 p.m., the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:45 p.m. with the meeting commencing at 8 p.m. Ample parking is available in the church parking lot.

How to Join

Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to practicing Catholic men in union with the Holy See, who are at least 18 years old. A practicing Catholic is one who lives up to the Commandments of God and the precepts of the Church. Application blanks are available from any member of the Knights of Columbus.

Men's Club

The St. Clement of Rome Men's Club is an organization open to all adult males of the parish community, with fathers of current St. Clement of Rome School students particularly encouraged to join.  This active organization currently numbers 142 members, enjoying progressively increasing membership.  The Men's Club has a three-pronged mission: to inform, to give back, and to entertain.

Inform

The Men's Club seeks to inform its members of the happenings in the community through the scheduling of guest speakers to touch on a variety of topics of interest to our community.  Recent speakers at our catered monthly meetings have included Jim Letten, Jim Henderson, Newell Normand, John Young, Cynthia Lee Cheng, Pete Finney, Ed Daniels, Thomas Capella, and Mike Stanfield.

Give Back

The Men's Club is heavily involved in the advancement of the St. Clement of Rome Parish and School, viewing service to others as a core Christian value.  These projects seek to address the physical and spiritual needs of the parish and its parishioners.  Some of the ways that we give back throughout the year are through the involvement in or organization of the following events: Back to School Bash, Men's Club/Co-Op Social, SCR Craft Fair and Market, Oyster Festival, Lenten Fish Fries, Father-Daughter Dance, Bi-Monthly Masses.

Entertain

The Men's Club seeks to entertain its members and their spouses, aiming to bring members together and foster a sense of camaraderie that extends outside the parish and school and into the community in which we live and pray.  Some of the events that the organization has hosted and sponsored have been: Lombardi Trophy Event, Back to School Social, Roman Day at the Races, Tony Angelo's Dinner, Annual Golf Tournament, Crawfish Awards Banquet, Annual Wild Game Gumbo, Annual Steak Dinner.

Young Elders

The Young Elders is an organization that strives for the betterment of the life situations of its members by fostering growth possibilities – spiritual, cultural, and recreational.

The Young Elders organization encourages service related activities, provides information regarding benefits and obligations affecting senior adults, and promotes social contact.

St. Clement of Rome’s Young Elders organization is open to parishioners and all who reside in the St. Clement of Rome Parish thatare at least fifty years of age.  Members must attend at least three (3) meetings per year.
