October-Month of the Rosary
October is traditionally the month dedicated to the Holy Rosary in honor of the miraculous victory of the Holy League against the Ottoman Turks at the Battle of Lepanto on October 7, 1571. The miraculous victory was attributed to the intercession of Our Lady of the Rosary. As a result Pope Pius V made October 7 the feast day of Our Lady of Victory, now celebrated as Our Lady of the Rosary.
Here at St. Clement we mark this month of the Holy Rosary in several ways. We pray the rosary first of all 30 minutes before each parish Mass during this month.
We will also be holding a public rosary in front of the church on West Esplanade on October 14 at 12:00pm and offer this rosary for the conversion of the United States of America.
Finally, we will have our annual Rosary Rally on Tuesday, October 24 at 7:00pm in the Church. We will sign some hymns dedicated to Our Lady followed by a living rosary composed of members of our various parish organizations and will also include a talk on Our Blessed Mother and the Rosary given this year by Fr. Jeff Montz, a priest of the Archdiocese of New Orleans and one of the spiritual theologians at Notre Dame Seminary.
Please join us for these events as we celebrate this month of the Holy Rosary.
