Oyster Festival - Fair

Our 2012 Oyster Festival was a phenonmenal success. It's never too early to think about next year, though. The 2013 Oyster Festival is scheduled for Friday, November 8th to Sunday, November 10th. We look forward to continuing our tradition of great music and even better food. Stay tuned for more details to come.

Sponsorship Information

Community support is needed to make our Oyster Festival a success. As the festival approaches, you will find a Sponsorship Form on our website. The Oyster Festival is always a credit to the generosity of many sponsors and benefactors. Thanks to all who consistently sponsor prizes, cups, t-shirts, and booths. Stay tuned for specific sponsorship information for the 2013 Oyster Fest.

Volunteering

Another way to contribute to the festival's success is through volunteering. Taking one 3-hour shift at a booth will go far to make our 2013 edition a great experience for all. We process all volunteering through scroysterfestival.org, which has a simple online registration interface. When the 2013 Oyster Festival gets nearer, specific information on volunteering will be available on our website.

T-Shirt Order

The Oyster Fest is known for distinctive artwork featuring our beloved Shucky. The 2013 will be no different. Stay tuned to find out what adventure Shucky has gotten himself into this year.

Entertainment Schedule

The Oyster Fest prides itself on offering the best in fair entertainment. Aside from our extensive selection of carnival rides and game booths, the Oyster Fest also features nightly musical performances. Recent years have brought many well-respected acts, including Bag of Donuts, the Top Cats, Cheeweez, Dash Rip Rock, and the Rockenbraughs. Look forward to another strong musical line-up in 2013.

Oyster Fest Video

To get a sense of what the Oyster Festival is all about, check out a recap video from last year's first day. Shucky and the entire St. Clement of Rome community certainly lived out our theme with an Olympic-sized event.

This Year's Theme

File away ideas for Shucky. The best theme will lead Shucky on his 2013 adventure.

Raffle Information

The festival will once again have a $1,000 raffle drawing. Tickets cost $1 each and will be available from both the Parish Center and School Office in the weeks before the festival.

Parental Involvement

The Oyster Festival takes the contributions of all of our community to be an event that truly displays the SCR Spirit. Parents of our parochial school students are obviously an important part of that spirit. In order to make clear the need for such parental involvement, the 2012-2013 St. Clement of Rome School Student Handbook states the following:

We invite all members of the school community to be active participants in the parish fair. The Oyster Festival is the parish's largest fundraiser and requires the generosity of volunteers to be successful. Therefore, during the parish fair weekend, all St. Clement of Rome School families are required to serve one three-hour shift per child, up to two shifts. Second, each family is required to sell a minimum of $25.00 of raffle tickets. (4)

Thanks to all who serve in such a Spirited fashion!

SCR Alumni

The Oyster Fest annually brings back together faces from the past. As a specific way to encourage St. Clement of Rome School alumni to stay connected to SCR, the Oyster Fest is designating an evening as Alumni Night. Simply stop by the Alumni Booth and receive a special drink cup with a ticket for a free drink. Spread the word before the 2013 Oyster Festival gets too close.

Purpose

The primary purpose of our annual Oyster Festival is to bring the St. Clement of Rome community together in fellowship and fun. Funds raised from the Oyster Festival are used to reduce gym and Katrina building recovery debt. With your support, we will not only "Twist and Shuck" away the weekend, but also help ensure a debt-free future for St. Clement Parish and School. The 2011 festival raised $89,495, which marks a 5% increase over the previous year. Come for the entertaining music. Come for the South Louisiana food. Come for the exciting rides. Stay for the St. Clement of Rome community.
